Why would a young man in his 20s endure brutal torture, including crucifixion, in one of Egypt’s most notorious prisons? Majed El Shafie, a former Muslim and native Egyptian, was sentenced to death for his unwavering faith in Jesus Christ. Arrested for converting to Christianity, he faced seven days of unimaginable suffering in Abu Zaabal Prison. But his story didn’t end there.
Through a miraculous escape, Majed found asylum in Canada, where he now fights for persecuted religious minorities as the founder of One Free World International (OFWI). His testimony is a powerful reminder of faith, resilience, and the cost of following Jesus in a world that often rejects Him.
Majed’s journey challenges us all: What is worth more—our temporary physical lives or eternal life through Jesus Christ? The Bible tells us in John 3:16, “For God so loved the world that He gave His only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life.” This life is temporary, but eternity is forever. No suffering, no persecution, and no earthly pain can compare to the joy and salvation found in Jesus.
